EN13567

The EN13567 standard is the EU specification for the safety and performance requirements of protective clothing for fencers. Its full name is ‌EN 13567:2002+A1:2007‌. It covers the design, testing and certification requirements of protective equipment for hands, arms, chest, abdomen, legs, genitals and face, and is applicable to personal protective equipment (PPE) in fencing. And it complies with the EU Regulation on Personal Protective Equipment (EU) 2016/425

1.Scope of application ‌ : To standardize the design, manufacture and testing of protective clothing and equipment (such as face masks, breastplates, leg guards, etc.) in fencing to ensure that they can effectively reduce the damage caused by fencing weapons.

2Key requirements : ‌

① Ergonomics and coverage ‌ : Protective clothing should cover key areas of the body (such as arms, legs, and face), and ensure wearing comfort and freedom of movement.

② Performance grade ‌ : It indicates the protection strength through a numerical grade and defines the strictness of the test (such as impact resistance).

③ Design and marking ‌ : It is necessary to clearly indicate the applicable hand shape (left/right fencer) and the protected area.

3.Test methods ‌ : including protective performance tests (such as molten metal impact, cutting, wear resistance tests) and functional evaluations (such as dimensional stability, material strength). ‌ ‌

Products conforming to this standard are certified to help reduce the risk of injuries to fencers to a tolerable level.
